What is VSO-RAISA?
The Regional AIDS Initiative of Southern Africa (RAISA), is a comprehensive programme that addresses the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Southern Africa region. VSO-RAISA consists of projects across seven southern African countries – Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Lesotho – and includes a strong regional element.
At our core, VSO-RAISA strengthens the capacity of organisations to deal more effectively with the HIV/AIDS pandemic and to realise the rights of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. We achieve this primarily through working alongside highly skilled and experienced international volunteers. Together we work with partner organisations on a daily basis over an extended period of time. We organise a range of complementary activities, such as workshops, publications, exchanges and advocacy to enhance the capacity development efforts of our volunteers.
