Research and development of good practice
The regional approach also enables VSO-RAISA to capture good practice and learning from across the region and beyond, and provide guidance and support to country programmes in scaling up their initiatives.
In the first year of implementation alone, RAISA III (2009-2013) developed the following papers:
Scaling up HIV and AIDS prevention, treatment, care and support in community and home based care programmes and reducing the burden of HIV and AIDS care on women, girls and older carers in SADC – jointly developed by WHO and VSO-RAISA
Making Care Work Count– a handbook on advocacy and policy development to reduce the burden of care on women and girls, specifically community and home-based carers, jointly developed by VSO-RAISA and GEMSA
Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children and Youth (OVCY) Guidelines – developed by SADC with VSO-RAISA technical input). RAISA aided the roll out of these guidelines with a regional workshop for staff and partners. (Download in Portuguese)
Strategies for implementing prevention programmes to address the key drivers of HIV in Southern Africa– Produced by VSO-RAISA, which will inform prevention initiatives
